A complete range of services are offered from a simple mount to a bespoke display with hand modelled foliage. If you are interested in commissioning a piece of work or are interested in any of the work on the site, then please use the contact form.
Two types of cases are offered, both are individually designed by Jack and constructed by a local cabinetmaker.
An all glass case supported on a plinth. This allows the case to be placed anywhere in the room affording an all-round view of the interior.
An all glass case on a simple but elegant base, for display where space is restricted.
Both types of cases are hand finished to complement the interior.
Jack offers tuition either on an individual basis or with a maximum of two students. This allows a more personal approach to learning.
It is recommended that prospective students attend an introduction day, where Jack demonstrates the whole process of mounting a specimen. Thus allowing students to familiarise themselves before attempting the process.
This would include:
Assessing the suitability of the specimen and then taking relevant measurements and reference.
Skinning and cleaning the skin for mounting.
Carving an artificial body from balsa wood.
Wiring the skin and reconstructing the bird.
Positioning the bird with reference to photographic studies and measurements recorded earlier in the process.
Tuition takes place in Jack’s clean and bright modern studio with a light lunch and refreshments provided. The cost of an introduction day is £250 per participant and lasts approximately eight hours.
